What is a Wi-Fi QR code?
A Wi-Fi QR code lets anyone join your wireless network by scanning it with their phone camera, instead of typing a long, complicated password. The moment the code is scanned, the device shows a "Join network" prompt and connects in one tap.
This generator builds a standard WIFI: string that iOS, Android, and most modern camera apps understand natively. Your network name and password are encoded directly into the image and never sent anywhere, so it is safe to print and share at home, in a café, or at an event.
How to create one
- 1Select the Wi-Fi type
Click the Wi-Fi tile at the top of the generator. The form switches to network-specific fields.
- 2Enter your network name
Type your SSID exactly as it appears when you search for networks. It is case-sensitive.
- 3Add the password
Enter your Wi-Fi password. Choose WPA, WEP, or "None" for an open network. Hidden networks can be marked too.
- 4Customize the look
Optionally change colors, dot style, or add a logo. Keep contrast high so phones can read the code.
- 5Download and share
Export as PNG for printing or SVG for crisp resizing. Place it where guests can see and scan it.
When to use it
Print the code on a fridge magnet or a small card so friends and family connect without asking for the password.
Display it on tables or a counter sign so customers hop on your guest network instantly.
Leave a framed code in each room. Guests scan once and are online, with no front-desk calls.
Put the code on a badge lanyard insert or a desk placard for visitors and contractors.
Printing and scanning tips
- Print at least 2 × 2 cm so phone cameras can focus on the small dots.
- Use dark dots on a light background — black on white scans most reliably.
- Keep a clear white margin (quiet zone) around the code, at least four modules wide.
- Test with both an iPhone and an Android device before printing in bulk.
- If your password is very long, the code becomes dense — a larger print size helps.
Frequently asked questions
Will my Wi-Fi password be visible to anyone who scans it?
Yes. The password is encoded inside the QR code, so anyone who scans it can read and join the network. Only share the code with people you trust, and do not post it publicly online.
Does it work with WPA3?
Yes. Select the WPA option, which covers WPA, WPA2, and WPA3 networks. The phone handles the handshake based on your router settings.
Can I make a code for an open network with no password?
Yes. Choose "None (open network)" as the security type and leave the password field empty.
What about a hidden SSID?
Tick the "Hidden network" box so the phone knows to search for a non-broadcasting network name.
Why will my phone not scan the code?
Low contrast, a tiny print size, or a damaged quiet zone are the usual causes. Reprint larger on white paper with black dots and test again.
Do these Wi-Fi codes expire?
No. They are static codes. As long as your network name and password stay the same, the code keeps working forever.
